From the short Greystone Loop (1.4km through vineyards) to the total 14.5km route, the trail provides easy access to Waipara's iconic scenery, with varied lengths and options to suit all tastes. Several wineries are directly accessible from the trail, making it an ideal way to sample some of Waipara's best produce.

    Mount Cass Walkway

Framing Waipara to the east, Waipara vitners have Mount Cass to thank for sheltering the valley from the Pacific, and thus providing much of the unique micro-climate that makes Waipara famous. This hike to the peak of Mount Cass offers stunning views over the whole valley - and a glimpe of the ocean that lies just beyond Waipara's doorstep.

The main route to the sumit takes around 90mins one way, with a shorter 'Old Quarry' route also available. Passing mostly through farmland, the track is occassionaly closed for lambing and other farming needs. For updates on the trail status, maps and access information, visit the Mt Cass Walkway.

    Mackintosh Beach

One of Waipara's best-kept secrets, Mackintosh Beach is accessed via a private track at the end of Mount Cass Road. This 2.7km out-and-back trail is steep in parts so considered 'moderately challenging' - but the reward is worth it. Stunning in any weather, Mackintosh Beach is local favourite.
